Huge congratulations to Maria Shtrevensky and Team Canada for finishing 12th at the 2025 Junior World Championships (China) in Women’s Sabre! 

Team Canada—Ashley Chen, Julia Shi, Julie Xiao, and Maria Shtrevensky—started strong with an exciting 45-41 win over Great Britain in the round of 32.

They then faced a tough Hungarian squad in the round of 16 and fought hard, ultimately losing 28-45. In the placement rounds, they:

• Defeated Kazakhstan 45-35
• Lost to Japan 26-45
• Finished the day with a close match against Germany, losing 32-45 to secure 12th place.

We couldn’t be prouder of Maria—her hard work, growth, and unwavering dedication continue to shine. Every step of this journey adds to her experience, shaping her into not just a stronger fencer, but a more complete competitor. This World Championship may be closing, but the journey is far from over. We can’t wait to see where her talent and passion take her next!

Congratulations to Maria for finishing 43 from 140 at the Junior World Championships in China!

Maria had a fantastic start to the day winning 5 matches in the poule and losing only 1. She then won her first Direct Elimination bout 15-12 against Kozlowsha (POL). 

In a fiercely contested tableau of 64, Maria fought with heart, discipline, and courage, narrowly losing 15-14 to Vieira (BRA). 

Maria finished highest of the representatives from team Canada ! 

Congratulations to our incredible fencers on their first competition representing the City of Côte Saint-Luc! We’re proud of your progress and can’t wait to see how you all continue to grow and thrive in the sport.

Congratulations to Maria Shtrevensky who was part of the Canadian Junior Women’s team who took the Bronze Medal  in the Boston World Cup 2025. 

They beat team Japan (45-44) to set up a semi final with team France (33-45). They then beat Romania  (45-28) in the Bronze Medal match.
