It is so wonderful to see the club grow and so many of our fences taking their first steps in competitive fencing. 

Maria had a fantastic time at the World Championships and achieved some excellent results and gain invaluable experience. 

Congratulations to Maria on her 48th place (127 competitors) finish in her first  Junior World Championships!  (Maria achieved the best result for the Canadian Team in this event)

In the Cadet event, Maria finished 40th (92 participants) in a day with extremely difficult opponents.

Congratulations to Ryan Cho who took home two silver medals (individual and team) in the finals of the Jeux du Québec!

He put in a good effort across the multiple days of the tournament. The event was televised, we hope he gets used to the cameras during future events!

MEDAL ALERT !!! SILVER MEDAL 🥈 FOR MARIA SHTREVENSKY AT THE PAN AMERICAN CADET AND JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP IN BOGOTA, COLUMBIA!

A superb performance from Maria as she fought her way through representatives of North and South America to claim the silver medal in the Women's Sabre Cadet Event.

Maria won all her fights in the poule round and was ranked 3rd as she advanced to the Direct Eliminations. She had a bye through the last 32 and beat Guerscovich ARG 15-6 in the last 16. She went on to beat Jung USA 15-8 and then Hwang PUR 15-13 before losing to Yang USA  in the final.

Coach Misha is piste side with her and is very proud of her performance today.

Congratulations and good luck for the rest of the championships! We are supporting you all the way, Maria and Masha !

Maria and coach Misha are in France fencing and in the European Cadet Circuit in Meylan.

Maria won 4 of her 6 fights in the poules ranking 47th after the poule.

She then beat Noel (FRA) 15-8 in the L128 and Allaire (FRA) 15-7 in the L64 before losing to Chin (USA) 15-6 in the L32.

Maria finished 27th out of 138 competitors, achieving the second highest place finish for team Canada.

 On Sunday 18th December, we hosted our very first EEM Cup.  We welcomed  43 participants from across 6 of our schools and beginner groups to compete in a friendly competition and try electrical fencing.  It was a wonderful event with excellent fencing and sportsmanship throughout. 

We were very pleased to see all the parents and  family members who came to support and watch as the fencers showed off all the skills they had learnt.  We are extremely proud of all the fencing and the progress that has been made.
